Croatia Holiday Report

img_0085
Finally today I received the email I've been waiting for; a set of photographs of Grandpa and GrannieAnnie's flat in Durban (and the cat). I've been on a "blog strike" until these became forthcoming so I'm pleased that I can get back to the regular (or was that the irregular?) schedule.

Croatia was spectacular, partly because the beautiful scenery is interspersed with buildings (mostly hotels) still damaged during the conflict there about 15 years ago. We were told that most of the privately owned residences, like the accomodation we were in, have been restored by their owners. It is the government owned hotels etc. that remain derelict due to lack of funds. One of the most eerie things is walking around the beach resort at Kupari where about 4 very large hotels stand deserted, many with bullet and shell holes visible from where they were attacked from the sea. Emma found this all absolutely fascinating.

For more holiday photos from Croatia see the flickr slideshow. Be warned that there are about 200 photos in the slideshow.

Glad my mail did the trick! We'll wait to look at the 200 holiday pix at Mark's as it'll take forever to download here. Leon and Emma look SO grown up in the other pic and Lara as glam and young as ever (more like a big sister)
