I think I will keep you in suspense a few days more about the Carter family's progress in England and share instead the images from the Carter (I need to get back to using Cartter at some stage) family bible. Thanks to Peter (Goldhawk) I have these scanned images that show the marriage of William and Harriett, the birth of the children and the death of Herbert in Australia in 1901.

I wonder why the deaths of William and Harriett were never recorded? They happened before the bible went to South Africa afterall...

another intersting thing is how close certain birth dates are to the current family..... 4 march (mom,mark,twins,greg),29 July (you & mel),18 September(Nana),25 May (me & Margot),6 Feb (Oups) - Quite freaky.....
I noticed the same thing... I wonder if it is real or just one of those patterns that will always emerge?
Date thing is remarkable. My mother's brother was also William Charles (WC) and one of his more irreverant friends apparently once wrote him a letter addressed to Mr Lav Cartter.
